Describe your approach with first-time clients.
They’re all first time clients right now… but I’m getting booked solid. I like to get a clear sense of what you want and your hair's basic structure before I pick up any tools. I'll ask questions and give you feedback. I want to make sure my clients feel comfortable.

What's so hot about fauxhawks?
They’re not just for your emo kid brother anymore. They can be really versatile and work for any client. I can cut them clean, sharp, short or long. They can be toned down versions, texturized, worn up or down. Fauxhawks are an edgy twist on a classic cut.

What are your style influences?
Men’s fashion and modern design in general, whether interior or architectural. I love the idea of designing hair- taking elements from different looks and piecing them together to construct a finished style. Tell me your favorite thing about these different haircuts and we'll make something new.

Why become a hairstylist?
Hair incorporates fashion, trends, design, everything. It's a way that I can be creative and be connected. I went to cosmetology school and I knew it was for me as soon as I walked in. It just felt right.

What are your interests outside of VAIN?
I DJ, travel, listen to music, and read a lot of magazines. I’ve also been known to watch a little Animal Precinct.

What are your goals as a hairstylist?
I want to learn as much as possible. I never want to stop learning about what’s new, what’s fresh. We have advanced education classes in cut and color techniques at VAIN that are great. Who knows where I’ll be in a year from now- I might be really into curly hair or something. But whatever my focus is, I'm pretty sure that it'll involve fauxhawks.
