Talk a little about the party hair you do.
I love doing curls, bouffants, blowouts, everything from classic bridal to an updo mowhawk. People can’t get always get the volume or curl they want on their own hair so that's where I come in. Plus it’s fun to go out and get your hair done for a night out on the town.
Why did you become a hairstylist?
My hairstylist actually convinced me it was my calling! I was always coloring and cutting my own hair between appointments.
What kinds of color do you specialize in?
Multi-dimensional color, foils to give hair multiple shades, give it more depth, more interest. Color that will show off a cut or disguise a past one while we’re growing it out. I love bold color, so if you want it I’ll help you achieve it. It’s an inspiration. But I love natural colors, too.
Describe your approach with new clients.
I like to ask what their goal is, what they like or don’t like about their current haircut or color, and try to get a feel for personality and what they’re willing to try. I'll make suggestions, see what they think, and go from there. I want my clients to love the way they look when they walk out the door.
Who, in your opinion, had the best hair ever?
Poison Ivy in Batman. I love the over-the-top brightness and bigness of it. Obviously that's not for everyone, but there's great inspiration in that hair.
What are your interests outside of hair + VAIN?
I read a lot, I oil paint, and I have a degree in commercial photography.
Describe your dream hair day.
I like every hair day that’s busy, whether it’s cuts or color. As long as I have lots of happy clients I’m happy.
