EXPERIENCE
At VAIN since 2000
Licensed stylist since 2000

You're VAIN Ballard's first full-time stylist. Why the switch from downtown?
Ballard is my neighborhood- I've lived here for 10 years. There's a great sense of community here and I'm really enjoying the interaction between everyone in the salon. I feel like I can take my time and produce great hair. And the natural light from the salon's windows is amazing.

What's your focus in hair right now?
Short, shaggy cuts, extreme shapes and definition. Bold semi-hidden color, natural mixed with unnatural in both cuts and color.

What are your style influences?
Architecture, photography, stencil graffiti, color, mid-century modern bold shape and lines.

Any notable past work experience?
I spent time training at Vidal Sassoon in Manchester, England. I also cut Morissey's hair... so not true.

What's your approach to hair care?
Taking care of hair from the inside out and using really good shampoos, conditioners, and product.

Why did you want to become a hairstylist?
I always knew I would be a hairstylist. It just made and makes sense. I love helping people express how they feel with how they look.

Interests outside of work?
Music, art, photography, cooking, food, friends, guitar, found objects, animals, collecting. The art of analog everything.

What do you like about VAIN?
Being able to be myself without getting too much sh*t for it.
