How did you decide to be a hairstylist?
Growing up in Japan I was influenced by the styles around me, so I decided I wanted to be a hairstylist. Years later when I came to the US I wanted something of my own, so I finally did it. I really like doing hair. I think hairstylists are artists and can give people spice.
Why work at VAIN?
The chance to learn about modern, creative cut and color techniques. I'm learning a lot from being around this talented group of stylists. Plus VAIN has clients from young to old and everything in the middle. It's fun here.
Any hair tricks you'd like to share?
Basic hair shape is very important. You can be creative on top of that, but you have to start with the basic shape. Also- product! The right product makes a big difference. We have so many products at VAIN; there's the perfect one for every client.
What's your current goal as a stylist?
Building my color skills and clientele. I'm interested in vibrant color. I’ve done more subtle looks in the past and want to move towards more creative styles I can customize for my clients.
Why do you love doing hair?
I like to be creative and make people happy and build their confidence. The right haircut or change of look can do that. I love to hear "it looks so great!" after the appointment is over. There's beauty in change.
