EXPERIENCE
At VAIN since 2005
Licensed stylist since 2006
What are your style influences?
Personal style- The 80s, Motley Crue, Duran Duran, the 60s, mod bobs, people watching. But I pride myself on being able to help clients express their own style, whatever that style is.
What’s your approach with new clients?
I ask lots of questions, look at pictures, offer suggestions, and make sure we’re on the same level with what they want. I encourage them to try new things and try to boost their confidence level about what they can do with their hair.
What's in your bag of hair tricks?
Lots of teasing combs, texturizing tools for every person’s hair type, and conversation techniques to make sure I get what look a client is going for.
What made you want to become a hairstylist?
I didn’t want to have to compromise my personal style for my career. Being a hairstylist allows me to be creative and help people be creative too.
Finish the sentence: I can’t do hair without…
A client and hands. That’s all I need.
What's your dream day of doing hair?
Clients who are excited about VAIN and about getting some rad new hair, if every client left with a giant smile on their face, and maybe Jon Bon Jovi as a client.
What's the biggest misconception about you as a hairstylist?
That I can’t do conservative hair. You should see the 9-to-5 styles I can do.
Who had/has the best hair ever?
Twiggy, 1920’s era hair, Dita Von Teese, Cyndi Lauper, Flock of Seagulls, Duran Duran, and you after your next haircut.
