What's your approach with clients?
I try to really listen to what they are looking for and make sure that they are willing to maintain whatever style they choose. I'm not into pressuring a client to go in a direction that they don't feel comfortable with.
What's your focus in hair right now?
I've been into wavy textures lately and peek-a-boo highlights where the re-growth isn't as obvious.
Why did you want to become a hairstylist?
I love working with my hands and being creative. I've also been obsessed with cutting my own hair since I was a kid, so it only seemed natural that I would get into cutting other people's hair.
What do you like about working at VAIN?
VAIN's community involvement and interest in the arts. Both are important in my life and it's great to find a salon that incorporates those things.
Who had the best hair ever?
Milla Jovovich in "The Fifth Element"
Any favorite hair styling tricks?
Leave-in conditioner. Always before blow-drying. It protects the hair from the heat and reduces frizz.
Interests outside of VAIN?
Metalsmithing, jewelry, letterpress, music, and my dog Ellie --- a rescue greyhound. Oh, and online gaming. Just kidding. Not really.
