Alexis: an interactive stylist who believes in listening to clients. Former visiting hairstylist to the Peace Corps Thailand. Outgoing, positive, willing to try anything once. Taking Seattle and VAIN by storm!
Why did you want to become a hair stylist? I enjoy creating wearable art and making people feel positive about themselves. I love being able to connect with people on a regular basis, and I enjoy the relationships that develop.
What's your approach with clients?
I try to make my clients, especially first-time clients, feel as comfortable as possible. I'm interested not only in what you want your hair to look like, but also what you don't want it to look like- that way I know what to avoid. I care a lot about the integrity of hair, so I like to map out a style plan for clients. I'll get you blonde if that's what you want, but sometimes achieving your ideal style while maintaining your hair's health can take phases.
What are your style influences?
Most of my influences come from pop culture and the world around me.
What do you like about working at VAIN?
The creative freedom for both stylists and clients. Also, VAIN's community focus.
Any favorite hair styling secret weapons or tricks?
Boar hair bristle brushes. They're essential for any big hair blowout.
Interests outside of VAIN?
Travel, music, living and loving life to the fullest!
