What do you love about doing hair?
I enjoy my work so much that it rarely feels like work to me. I love the art and craft of it as well as the opportunity to build relationships with people.
What are some of your specialties?
+ Curls -- I'm a DevaCurl certified stylist and know just what to do with fine, curly, and/or inconsistent textures.
+ Colors of all kinds -- I love helping my clients find colors that work for their look and their lifestyle, whether it's rainbow bright fantasy shades, subtle pops of color, transitioning from bright colors to a more natural look, highlights, ombré, balayage, grey coverage, and more. I love to keep up on trends in social media.
+Creative precision cutting -- avant garde styles, asymmetrical looks, precision bobs, geometric cuts.
+ Corrective cuts -- for when your last style didn't quite feel right for you.
What's your secret weapon for great hair?
My goal is to make your look as easy to wear and manage as possible. It often takes just a couple tips and tricks added to your usual routine to make your everyday hair get better by the day.
What are your hair style influences?
Fashion trends, punk, weird, goth, high fashion, fantasy, psychedelic, 70s.
What inspires you as a hairstylist?
My clients! People are beautiful, unique, and inspiring. I love working with each client to find a look that fits their individual lifestyle.
What's your approach with new clients?
With every client, I start by listening, sharing ideas, and making a plan together. I'm a realist when it comes to hair and will give you the nitty gritty details of exactly what it will take to get your dream hairstyle.
What's the best hair advice you've been given?
There are no absolutes.
What inspired you to become a hairstylist?
Starting in my teens, I was always the one fixing my friends' bad haircuts, doing their makeup and box dyes, and doing my own hair. I love hair -- touching it, fixing it, and figuring out styles that make people feel good about themselves. Being a hairstylist is more than a job for me -- it's my favorite art and something I truly love to do.
