What do you love about doing hair and why? I love to make clients feel good about themselves. When I was in cosmetology school, we did complimentary cuts & colors for a women's shelter and they were so appreciative. I realized that for some people, getting their hair done isn't just a monthly maintenance thing, it's a luxury that they look forward to. Doing hair is exciting because styles and trends are always changing.

Specialties? Bright fashion colors. Wavy & curly hair. Long layers. Balayage.

Secret weapon for great hair? Get a great haircut, even if it's just a trim, especially if your hair is over-processed from color services. Always use a good conditioner and a heat protectant product if you are styling with hot tools.

Hair style influences? My Mexican heritage is a big influence which is why I love braiding. I also love that hair trends from different decades can transcend to modern times with the right styling.

What inspires you as a hairstylist? I am a first generation Mexican American from a small town. I wasn't exposed to hair in an artistic way at all. As a teenager, I started seeing images of people with bold styles and colors and started experimenting with my own hair. Now that I live in Seattle, I get inspiration from people in the city every day.

What's your approach with new clients? Communication! I ask lots of questions about their lifestyle and hair routine so they can leave with hair that suits their style.

Best hair advice you've ever been given? Be yourself. Don't be afraid to try something edgy. It will always grow back!

What inspired you to become a stylist? I am very creative and always loved painting. In art class I decided, if I can do this on a canvas, I can do it on hair. This thought gave me the freedom to offer creative transformations to others. I love when parents bring their teens in to get their dream hair. That is something that they will remember forever.

Education and professional career? I attended the Aveda Institute in Seattle and have been at VAIN since 2016.

Life/interests outside of VAIN? Camping, painting, true crime podcasts, thrift shopping. I taught myself how to play piano. I love Halloween and always get super creative with my costume. I wish I could be Beetlejuice every year!
