VAIN + Broadway at The Paramount are giving away an 80s-themed prize package to celebrate the opening of the hit Broadway show Rock of Ages at the Paramount. The show is a love story set in 1987 L.A. to the hits of of Journey, Night Ranger, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benetar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake + many more. [Editor's note: I think crimping irons everywhere just wept + plugged themselves in.]

  • Grand prize winner gets a pair of tickets to the opening night of Rock of Ages at The Paramount (next Tues 2/8 at 7:30pm- good for that performance only), day-of-show 80s hairstyling by VAIN, + an 80s-tastic hair product package
  • Two runners-up get $25 in VAIN credit + a can of hairspray to keep that big hair big

    Just a reminder that we’ve got local love + chocolate goodness happening at VAIN this Saturday, Dec 18. First, all locally-made products will be 20% off at both VAIN downtown + VAIN Ballard all day long. That means Ballard Organics Soaps, Hair Poison by Sweet Revenge hair accessories (tiny top hats will make your holiday outfit the best one at the party, btw), Theo Chocolate + more all at a great discount.

    Then, and this is where this VAIN blogger needs a drool bib, the fine folks at Theo Chocolate will be onhand at VAIN downtown from 3 to 6pm for a free chocolate tasting. Candy bars, caramels + other confections, all good for the sampling before the stocking (or face) stuffing. 2 good 2 B true.

    Must be the season of the witch… and the bat: this Saturday, Oct 30th at VAIN downtown we’re celebrating Batcave Day, our annual tribute to the darker side of art + fashion and the spookiest time of year.

    But this isn’t a standard Batcave Day, dear VAIN Blog readers + trick-or-treaters. This year we’ve got a little something up our sleeves (our long black sleeves, or course) for everyone:

  • Get 25% off all purchases all day long. Good towards jewelry, art, hair products, stationery, wigs, you name it.*
  • Going to a Halloween party? Stop by on your way and snap your picture at the VAIN Mirror digital photobooth for your chance to win a $100 VAIN Gift Certificate. Best picture/costume wins!

This Saturday April 4, VAIN is teaming up with Three Imaginary Girls on their “Top of the Croc” pop showcase at the Crocodile. See the splendor of the new Crocodile! Check out live sets by Awesome, Tullycraft, BOAT, and hot newcomers iji! Get FREE, stage-side 5 minute “Crocodile Hair” updos by VAIN superstar stylists Megyn, Sarah B and Cassie (complete with electric green hair)! We’ll also be giving away over $150 in VAIN gift certificates live onstage later in the evening between bands, so this is one night out you won’t want to miss.

    Our newest VAIN hairstylist and recent NYC transplant Kelliane is already a hot hair ticket at both VAIN downtown and VAIN Ballard- her haircuts are designed to grow out beautifully (always a bonus), her special occasion hair skills are awesome, and she creates textured looks, naturally urban hairstyles, and full-bodied blowouts like nobody’s business. But it’s her color skills that have made Kellianne an instant standout- you know that soft, shiny, natural hair color you wish you were born with? She can do that. On your head. No joke.

    So! To celebrate the arrival of the latest talented hairstylist on the VAIN scene, we’re giving away a free hair color appointment with Kellianne (up to a $100 value, depending on the service). One person will win the grand hair color prize; three lucky runners-up will win $25 each in VAIN credit towards a future service with Kellianne- cut, color, or updo.

    We’re celebrating VAIN’s new waxing specialist Belinda and her magical VAIN waxing services with a contest for all you creative (and hairy) types out there. Come up with a new VAIN name for “bikini wax” and you could win one of these fabulous VAIN waxing prizes!

  • 1st place gets $100 in VAIN waxing services, a package of Betty Beauty hair dye for whatever hair’s left down there, and a bottle of aspirin.. not to mention bragging rights for naming a VAIN service.
  • 2nd place gets $50 in VAIN waxing services. You’re on your own for the aspirin.
  • Two honorable mentions will get $25 each in VAIN waxing services.

    Artwalk Celebrations

    It hasn’t snowed anytime recently, and we feel safe in saying that Spring truly has arrived. Given that we’re knee deep in the month of May, let’s just say… it’s about time. To celebrate, we’ll be doing Spring up-do’s [and more!] this Saturday, May 10th, at our Ballard location.

    Festivities should begin around 6 pm and last until at least 9 pm. Items in our boutique will be 15% off throughout the celebrations, and we’ll have free goodies to give out as well.
