Hope you will be able to make it to the Ballard Art Walk this upcoming Saturday (Dec. 10). Jamie Cox of Deuce will be featuring her collection of jewelry. For as long as she can remember she has always had a thing for jewelry; you can even call it a sort of love affair. Jamie explains that ” earrings always had to be big, rings stacked, and necklaces layered.”
Her jewelry design came from this love affair, she explains “a girl’s jewelry box can only hold so much! So with love, creativity, and a vintage flair Deuce was born.” Jamie’s collection is a mix of new and vintage elements. You definitely don’t want to miss her work, you will find some truly special pieces of jewelry.
Join us this Saturday from 6-9pm for art, drinks, and some treats – 5401 Ballard Ave NW.

Ta-da! Tiffany!
Monday, October 17th, 2011Folks- the suspense is finally over! Our own assistant turned stylist Tiffany is all grown up and all of her ample training, hard work and insane talent has brought this young woman to the final frontier of hairdressing. Let us welcome her and her kick ass round brushing skills to VAIN Ballard and soon, VAIN downtown!
Tiffany is a pretty busy lady so I was glad to catch her and get the low down on the wizard weilding all of this magic.
VAIN Beauty World: So, Tiff- what’s your hair-spiration?
Tiffany: Punk and rockabilly subculture, fashion and hair from the mid 1950′s to early 1960′s… it’s all awesome!
VBW: Who are some of your current style icons?
T: I LOVE Betsey Johnson and Kelly Osbourne! Marilyn Monroe is a classic that I will always hold dear to my heart- tried and true, you can pull from any variety of her and get a gorgeous example of beauty.
VBW: What’s your Point of Fashion this fall?
T: Leather and velvet jackets, Mad Men inspired dresses and all types of boots.
VBW: So now that we know that you’re clearly amazing, what can we expect in the area of hair expertise? Any specialties in that stylish sleeve of yours?
T: As a person with fine hair, I have a pretty strong affection for it! I love Razor cuts, asymmetrical ‘dos and creative color- especially veggie dye. Give me an ultra blonde and I can die happy- I absolutely love a good blonde!
Catch Tiffany while she’s still a steal! Call VAIN Ballard @ 206.706.2707 to book an appointment with her on Sunday or Monday. FYI- for a short time, Tiffany will be running a $15 haircut special on Mondays!

Saturday, October 1st, 2011This coming Saturday is the Ballard Art Walk and VAIN Ballard will be featuring the jewelry collection of Zerosept, the work is a mix of natural wooden elements that have been shaped into delicate industrial shapes. Audrey Lou of ZeroSept was born in France in a very industrial town, she settled in Seattle and fell in love with the Great Northwest natural beauty. She is an industrial designer by profession, but has her knowledge and creativity into a more emotional, down to earth and feminine adventure.
Her recipe to creating her jewelry is a mix of natural and industrial steps. She creates pieces from noble and unpredictable material: exotic wood. Audrey then creates contrast and modernity by drawing geometric shapes which will randomly fall onto the ever changing wood patterns. She utilizes laser cutting technology to create some precision as well as an industrial twist to her work.
The finishing touches are put together by adding silver and metal components to compliment the stunning raw beauty of the wood and all of the magic (assembly) happens by hand. It is truly evident that each piece that she creates is a result of her passion for proportions, natural beauty, and precision.
Rain or shine– we hope you will join us this upcoming Saturday (October 8th) from 6-9pm for art, drinks, and food. VAIN Ballard: 5401 Ballard Ave NW

Hot Hair: Extensions are magic.
Wednesday, April 20th, 2011You’ve heard it from us before: extensions can transform your hair in incredible ways. They’re great for adding length and/or volume, but they don’t always get enough cred for what they can do with color [Editor's note: have we ever told you about the time we added baby blue extensions to a bride's hair to match her wedding color scheme? True story. But back to the extensions at hand]. Here’s a great example of extensions added for color coming straight outta VAIN Ballard:
Client: Gretchen
Stylist: Lucie
Type of extensions: Great Lengths
Can’t quite tell which parts are extensions? That’s the magic. Lucie explains:
“Gretchen wanted funky color without having to pre-lift her hair or worry about colors bleeding or fading. I colored her hair in panels of red shades and put in bright red violet, crazy red, and peach extensions on top. The extension colors are really what made the big transformation.”
Like we said: magic.
Get some magic of your own: call VAIN downtown at 206.441.3441 or VAIN Ballard at 206.706.2707 to schedule an extensions appointment or free consultation with Lucie or any of our other extensions specialists.

All of her work is made from sterling silver and she loves to incorporate some of her favorite materials which include: freshwater pearls, semi-precious stones, and wood. Her collection of work at VAIN is perfect for spring; bright, bold and absolutely fun.
So please join us this Saturday from 6-9pm for some drinks, food, and some great jewelry. Plus you can meet the artist Sasha at the Art Walk. – 5401 Ballard Ave NW.
