Artist studios for rent at VAIN

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Have you always thought it would be cool to have your own private art studio right downtown? Now you can: VAIN currently has three artist studios available above our downtown Seattle hair salon.

Rents start at $180/month depending on size (they average about 100 square feet), with no extra charge for utilities. Each studio has closet space, a window for natural light, multiple electrical outlets, and access to a bathroom with a utility sink. Studios have 24-hour access and are work only. 6-month lease with first month and deposit due at signing. Visual artists interested in being part of the VAIN creative community (with occasional group shows!) and quiet types encouraged.

We have some great artists working in our studios already and can’t wait to meet our new neighbors! E-mail lisam (at) vain (dot) com to find out more and schedule an appointment to check the available spaces out. No calls please.

UPDATE: One of the studios available is what some call “The Penthouse,” a large space with a bay window facing 1st Ave on the top floor of the VAIN building. De-luxe! This space is rarely available, so get it while it’s hot.

Artist studios are on the top two floors above VAIN downtown, at 2018 1st Ave, Seattle.

Turn and Face the Strange

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Be sure to come out to VAIN this Saturday, October 17th, to celebrate the opening of our new exhibit “Turn & Face the Strange.” The show will be a diverse collection of works by artists Michael Lane, Josh Buesseler, Nicholas Kamuda, Ted Chen, and (new addition) Eddy Lee. It will not only promise to be a feast of beauty and curiosity, but it will also be a chance to examine and self-reflect through the exploration of portraits and human anatomy.

Words aside, here’s a sneak peak of what’s ahead:

Opening reception is Saturday October 17th 4pm – 9pm. We’ll have refreshments and tea to keep you warm!

La Rousse
will be on our sidewalks from 12pm – 6pm
(inside, if it’s raining) featuring new clothing from Slow and Steady Wins the Race and local designers Galah.

Also, be sure to check many of Seattle’s local artists in the open studios above the salon as well as the arrival of Surplus jewelry.

Whew, there’s so much happening! See you there!
xo,

Good news for artists who don’t like to travel far to get their hair done: VAIN currently has several artist studios for rent above our downtown salon!

The studios are work only, have natural light, a shared 1/2 bathroom, and offer 24-hour access. 6 month lease + deposit required. Rents start at only $180/month, no utilities fees.

We encourage local artists (quiet ones a plus- doing hair downstairs requires focus!) looking for a private, creative space to apply to join our talented group of tenants (Christine Larsen’s awesome robots, anyone??). Contact lisam (at) vain d o t c o m to find out more about the available studios and schedule an appointment to check them out.
