This coming Saturday is the Ballard Art Walk and VAIN Ballard will be featuring the jewelry collection of Zerosept, the work is a mix of natural wooden elements that have been shaped into delicate industrial shapes. Audrey Lou of ZeroSept was born in France in a very industrial town, she settled in Seattle and fell in love with the Great Northwest natural beauty. She is an industrial designer by profession, but has her knowledge and creativity into a more emotional, down to earth and feminine adventure.
Her recipe to creating her jewelry is a mix of natural and industrial steps. She creates pieces from noble and unpredictable material: exotic wood. Audrey then creates contrast and modernity by drawing geometric shapes which will randomly fall onto the ever changing wood patterns. She utilizes laser cutting technology to create some precision as well as an industrial twist to her work.
The finishing touches are put together by adding silver and metal components to compliment the stunning raw beauty of the wood and all of the magic (assembly) happens by hand. It is truly evident that each piece that she creates is a result of her passion for proportions, natural beauty, and precision.

This Saturday (June 11) as part of the Ballard Art walk we will be featuring jewelry by Amanda Smart of bent in bk. Amanda is a Seattle native who currently lives in Brooklyn while she completes her graduate program.
Her jewelry is a mix of bohemian flair and industrial forms. Amanda likes to incorporate bike parts, plumbing and wiring fixtures as well as vintage beads and feathers in her jewelry. She also plays with the idea of asymmetry in some of her pieces.

VAIN recently coiffed the models for the 3rd Annual Seattle Vintage Fashion Show and we figured you know, hey, folks might want an idea of how rad they could look if they’re in the market for a more “retro” sort of holiday ‘do.

This Saturday for the Ballard Art Walk, VAIN Ballard will feature two wonderfully unique jewelry designers. One of the jewelers is a former stylist Aran. She is deeply and madly in love with paper, metal, and color. She also considers herself a lifetime creator, that has been making objects and selling them for as long as she can remember.
Amy Margaret Kapphan’s work of Queen Anne Design is continually inspired by general movement and all living things; from flora and sea creatures to wheels and magnets. Amy designs her jewelry focusing on the functionality and wearablity of each piece.

In the spirit of community, VAIN is collecting donations to help the efforts of The Orion Center, a multi-service facility under the YouthCare agency, to support young people in Seattle. The Orion Center provides many services for homeless and in-need youth including technical education and skills training, meals, and medical counseling.
On December 17th, the center is hosting a holiday party and VAIN is going to provide gift bags for the 60-70 attendees. Gifts will include essentials such as hats, gloves, hand sanitizer, and shampoo. Our goal is to raise at least $300 by the end of next week to make it happen. You will find donation jars at the front desk at our Downtown and Ballard location for your giving spirit – please stop by and help us support a great cause!
