Last Friday just before I stepped out to enjoy my weekend, a glimmer of something truly special caught my eye. VAIN frontman eli blü was blowing out a ‘fro for Nathaniel -  the host of a Funk-themed party in Pioneer Square that night. (If only I had snapped the rest of his ensemble - a full leisure suit flecked with shiny, deep cerulean tears; loafers!). When the classics are foolproof, there’s no need to mess.

This past winter was a pretty bland one (is it over yet??), so we’re seeing more + more clients trying out vivid hair color to brighten things up for spring and summer. Case in point: Rita W, a client who went from blonde to varied shades of bright blue for her cool new look.

Today we’re taking a break from our regular client focus on Hot Hair and turning the spotlight on one of our own hairstylists who recently underwent a pretty dramatic hair change of her own.

Client-stylist: Janae J, known for her skills at creating both pretty, blended natural colors and bold looks for her clients.

Stylist: Resident VAIN dreads + braids expert TT, working with Janae on hair color training.

Style shift: Janae went from shoulder length, light cotton candy pink hair to this cut + color combo using Special Effects shades Fishbowl and Atomic Pink, along with a really complicated formula for the dark purple underneath (who knew hair color involved science??).
