Thank you, Alexis!

This post has been on my mind a long time, and I’m a little sheepish even now to write it. It is a little self absorbed to write an entire entry about a 3 year hair transformation. But this is VAIN, after all.

That’s me, on the right. You may recognize superstar stylist Carly on the left. When I first started at VAIN, Carly was my hair guru. She convinced me that box black hair color just wasn’t the best for my hairs, especially after multiple rounds of at home bleach. She gave me that cute cut you see there, a sweet layered-to-bits bob that didn’t go much past my chin. It was a signature look for a long time, with a brief departure into Great Lengths extensions. (But that’s a whole ‘nother post.)

Once I started at VAIN Ballard, I could no longer sneak in my services with Carly. But who would be brave enough now to take on my uber damaged hair, especially once I decided I was going to leave black hair behind? Somehow, Alexis agreed. She took on the task of growing out my thin hair, and an ongoing corrective color that took almost a year. Note that I’m not against DIY color, just against bleach/black/bleach/black when done in very untrained hands.

My hair got longer, healthier, lighter. She talked me down from the ledge when I tried to go dark again, or when I wanted to cut it all off rather than struggle through the grow-out. And by the time I got married in September, my hair was perfect:

Of course I’ve changed it once more than that, though subtly. From warm blonde highlights to cool titanium. A shorter fringe of bangs. Alexis has coached, helped, foiled, and trimmed through all of it. Plus sitting in her chair means I get to chat and laugh for a few hours, too. All of these ladies have taken such good care of me, and I appreciate all of it!

xo,

Sarah Jo
