Each month at VAIN Ballard we’ll be unveiling works of art you can wear, as curated by our own stylist/artist Aran. This month, we’re thrilled to have the dreamy and imaginative creations of Rachel Rader.

Rader holds a BFA in glass from Virginia Commonwealth University. Currently, she lives and works in Seattle as a professional glass artist.

She has been involved in glass education at Pilchuck Glass School and Pratt Fine Arts Center as a teacher, teaching assistant, and on administration.

Her bio states that “Rachel likes to make work that involves glass, metal, clay, knitting, crocheting, oil paints, sewn parts, plastic toys, pompoms, foreign coins, fur, rubber, music boxes, wood, hair, dryer lint, stickers, prom dress scraps, feathers, rhinestones… ” This ability to be inspired by many mediums is clearly displayed in the pieces at VAIN. The works are striking, not only at first glance, but upon closer inspection prove to be extraordinary. Detailed beading, handmade glass pieces, unique found items, bursts of textiles; each examination proves them to be more intricate and amazingly crafted.
Rader’s pieces will be unveiled tomorrow evening at VAIN Ballard. We invite you to come experience them in person!
Dreamily yours,
VAIN Ballard
