Hi!! I saw this via your main blog http://offbeatbride.com/2009/03/seattle-wedding-hair. I have jumped on the not your normal hair dye job wagon when lat week I went in for a trim and I left looking like a Soccer Mom. I almost spent my afternoon wandering the parking lot of Target looking for my fictional Minivan. My sister suggested I put peek a boo high lights in and dye it a funky color. So far it has been a hit. My peekaboo's are Chili Pepper. I love what you have to say in this article and it brings such a strong point. People will remember you.

I totally love this article.

Now there are actually 2 women on my team with interesting hair color. My self and Val a consultant with random teal spikes.

Have a great day!

Wow, I love brightly coloured hair, piercings, etc. and never fail to turn into an "omgilu" fangirl any time I see someone with it. Personal branding is a wonderful reason; you're going to be unforgettable, and that can be fantastic.

I only find it difficult to possess that kind of personal branding when you're a young person; it seems to widen the age gap just as piercings and other body modification does and reduce your appearance of professionalism (it makes you look younger, too). So, it works better for the older generation than the younger and can reduce the age gap in the other direction, even though it's obviously ridiculous to think that body mods and such are the sole property of the younger crowd. Also, having things you can hide is perfect.

Word, lady. As winner of the "musical hair award" (read: weird 'do) for my platinum-streaked hair at a corporate job in 2001, I'm with you on all points. I've seen some great examples of corp-appropriate-yet-creative looks coming out of VAIN lately, esp fauxhawks by our stylist Valentine, so thanks for representin'.
