What do you love about doing hair and why?
I love creating looks that don’t require a lot of styling but leave you feeling confident and ready for anything.
What's your secret weapon for great hair?
Don’t wash your hair every day, use moisturizers that absorb into your hair, and get yourself some dry shampoo!
What are your hair style influences?
Natural hair is a big influence. I like helping people find a style they love that lets them embrace what they have.
What inspires you as a hairstylist?
People, places, and nature are big inspirations, whether from my everyday life in Seattle or seen while traveling abroad.
What's your approach with new clients?
When I meet with a new client, I focus on getting to know them. Learning about their personality and lifestyle gives me insight into the look they want to achieve and makes it easier to work with them to find a style they can call their own.
What's the best hair advice you've ever been given?
I have curly hair, so the best advice I ever got was lots and lots of conditioner!
Tell us about your education and professional experience.
Becoming a hairstylist has always been part of the plan. When I was 6, I would pretend to foil my mom’s hair and cut my grandpa’ hair and mustache. Many years later, I studied cosmetology at the Paul Mitchell School in Columbus, Ohio. I graduated in 2011 and have since had additional training with Deva Curl, Davines, Wella, R&Co, Alterna, and Schwarzkopf. I started working at VAIN in April 2016.
Life/interests outside of VAIN
I’m a homebody who loves adventures. I enjoy spending time with my family, relaxing, cooking, drawing, and painting, but I also like to get outside and go hiking or out on the water.
