What do you love about doing hair and why?
I love being able to create beauty and help clients feel beautiful in the process. Hair is my art and people are my canvas. At the end of the day my clients are the ones who make me love doing hair. My goal is always to help them love their hair!
Tell us a bit about your haircuts.
I enjoy creating a haircut that’s customized to each client’s hair and style. I like building versatility into cuts so clients have the option to wear it in different ways. I also really love styling hair and have lots of tricks up my sleeve to help make your styling routine easy and beautiful.
What inspires you as a hairstylist?
My clients are definitely my number one inspiration. Then it’s art and fashion. I love following current fashion trends, runway, and editorial looks to keep a new and fresh perspective.
What’s your approach with new clients?
Listening is key with new clients. Determining what they like and taking into consideration their lifestyle and what their expectations are to create a haircut they will be happy with.
What’s your secret weapon for great hair?
The key to great hair is healthy hair. Using quality products to help protect your hair from damage and starting off with a good shampoo and conditioner and an excellent deep conditioning treatment is important to keep your locks looking shiny and pretty.
What are your style influences?
A fusion of edgy style with classic influences. I love Japanese Harajuku Fashion, Vivienne Westwood, Dior, and Versace.
What’s the best hair advice you’ve ever been given?
1. A really good hairstyle complements a really good haircut.
2. Keep it simple. Don’t complicate things.
Life/interests outside of VAIN?
So many!! I am a fashion marketing graduate and have a passion for runway and editorial photoshoots. I have done lots of hair for both. I did hair for a short film for the 48hr Portland Film Festival called “So You Think You Can Kill.” I am also a Raw Artist (Raw is an independent international arts organization) and have a hair profile on the site www.rawartists.org/angiecooper. There’s lots more, but basically I just love doing hair for runway, photo shoots, and movies. I take every opportunity I can. I’m a hair artist and love to collaborate with other artists!
